Accomplish a Life Goal: Run a marathon, climb a mountain, etc. Raise money per mile or other milestone.
Blog About It: Think about starting a blog to educate others on the issues you care about. Or look for other blogs that write about the issues, and post a comment about your point of view.
Book Drive: Ask community members to donate books they don’t use or need anymore. Sell the books online to at a local buyback book store and use the profits to buy the GCP children school supplies. Visit www.GCPstore.com to see what school supplies the children need.
Build a House overseas or in your home region: Organize a service team to build a house in Guatemala.
Business Donation: Ask a local business to donate a portion of their proceeds for the day/week/month to GCP.
Business Sponsorship: Get a business to sponsor a specific need (construction company partners with service team, landscaping business with plants, etc.)
Carwash Fundraiser: Have a DMAC carwash fundraiser by charging people for a good wash on their car. Be sure to give them a flyer before they leave explaining the mission of the DMAC and where they can donate online or by mail.
Collect Dues from Your Library: Ask your library to donate the fines it collects on the day or week of your event to GCP.
Coordinate a Professional Sponsorship: Have a group of people who work in the same field or profession sponsor a GCP teacher, doctors’ office sponsor a GCP doctor, etc. This also is a great media opportunity to gain awareness of the DMAC through media.
Fair Trade Fundraisers: Order fair trade chocolate, coffee, etc., from the GCP in Guatemala and sell or hand out on campus. Attach flyers to the products that have information about your DMAC’s mission and where they can join the club or donate to the GCP. Other ideas are to make hot chocolate, coffee, etc.
Find Stores to Sell Crafts from Guatemala: Find local stores in the community to sell Guatemalan handicrafts or organize your own craft sale. For a complete list of items, email DMAC@GodsChild.org
Freedom Run or Walk: Organize a 5K run/walk in your community, find local sponsors, and each participant can find friends or family to sponsor them. Call us at (952) 544-1670 – we have a step by step plan for your DMAC.
Get a Band to Donate Their Time: Work with a local band to organize a charity concert. Sell tickets at a reason-able price and keep the profit for your DMAC.
Gift Wrapping Fundraiser: Supply the wrapping paper, bows, name tags, etc., and have a gift wrapping day to raise funds. Add up how much all the supplies cost and then decide what you will need to charge for each present in order to make a profit.
Give an Alternative Gift: Give your loved one the gift of education, food, healthcare or clothing for people living in poverty. Your loved one will receive a certificate of this gift in his/her name. Visit www.GCPstore.com for a list of the gifts you can purchase.
Hold a Bake Sale: With every baked item sold, include information about GCP’s work to break the bitter chains of poverty.
Hold a BBQ Event: Invite fellow students to a BBQ event. Pass out flyers around campus to get the word out about the event and your DMAC. Charge them for a plate that has all the fixings of a BBQ. Ask a local store to donate a bike, skateboard and/or rollerblades. Sell raffle tickets at the event to win the prize(s).
Hold a Special Collection: During services, hold an appeal and special collection to benefit GCP’s work.
Host a House Party: Invite friends, classmates, fellow Dream Makers, etc., over for a house party. Screen a video or invite a local nonprofit to speak at the party. Your DMAC could also invite Chris Mathew or Patrick Atkinson to your party to speak.
Host a Food or Wine or Beer Tasting Even: Have local restaurants, wineries or breweries donate their food and drinks and promote what places will be at the event. Have people buy entrance tickets for a night to taste their local food and drinks.
Host a Theme Part: Charge entrance fees and hold costume contest with donated prizes.
Offer Services for Donations in Your Area: Rake lawns, baby sit, wash cars, etc.
Online Auction: Collect items and set up an online auction, with all the proceeds being donated to DMAC Central. Items could be a collection of things that people are willing to sacrifice for those who go without luxury items, and sometimes daily essentials, in Guatemala.
Organize a “Bring Your Bling” Collection: Have people bring in old, unwanted, or broken gold and silver jewelry. Organize a Hunger Banquet Event: Unique and memorable – this event allows organizers and participants alike to experience firsthand how our decisions affect others in the world.
Pencil & Dollar Drive: Set up a “pencil and dollar” drive at your local schools, where students bring in an unused pencil and $1.
Pocket Change 4 Social Change: Place GCP Pocket Change 4 Social Change coin boxes in the church office and in businesses in the community. Send the full coin boxes back to GCP and replace them with new empty boxes. To request a box contact DMAC@GodsChild.org.
Raise Money via Recyclable: Collect recyclable soda cans and bottles and donate the deposits to GCP.
Restaurant Receipts: Work with a local restaurant to put collection envelopes on tables or create a line on their credit card receipts for donating money to support the DMAC.
Sell Bottled Water: Have a company put your custom DMAC label on water bottles and sell them around campus. This idea is perfect for the hot summer or dry winter. Also, it serves as a walking billboard for your DMAC! Be sure to sell them for a good price where you make profit but they are also affordable. Set Up a Speaking Event: Arrange a speaking event for 2 local groups (your church, school, community group, club, etc.) and get out the word about your DMAC.
Skip a Meal for GCP: Organize friends to skip a meal in solidarity with those around the world living in hunger. Donate the money you would have spent on food to GCP. Traditionally, thousands skip a meal on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, or choose another day.
Sponsor a Child: Your group can sponsor a child, or get a local business to sponsor one too.
Work Out for a Good Cause: Get friends and family to pledge money for every mile you walk, lap you swim, or mile you bike, and donate the money raised to GCP. A sample pledge form is provided online.
Work With Local Artists: Have artists donate their artwork, jewelry and clothes. Organize an auction of their work, with proceeds going to GCP.
Write to Your Local Newspaper: Write a letter to the editor or an op-ed piece in your local newspaper about global poverty, hunger, human trafficking, etc. Highlight any events in your community that are raising awareness or funds.
